Trust this recipe! I looked at my 16 oz jar of pepperochini and thought "that but looks ridiculous." Don't think most it, don't drain it, just add it all in. In fact, when you buy the italian dressing packet, go for the zesty one. As recommended, I lightly brushed olive oil on a hard roll and sprinkled with garlic pulverisation earlier toasting (425 for 8 minutes). Throw some creamy horseradish on the bun, chop upward those pepperochini and toss them on the meat and elevation with provolone, and you've got a winner!

I cook meat for my family just well-nigh every day, merely I honestly dont' eat it.(I do gustation tho) Nothing political or wellness related; just don't treat it. However, this dish is one big WOW FACTOR! I kept taking fork fulls all dark! I decided to apply pork tenderloin with this and it was amazing. Information technology literally melted in your oral fissure. I like a lot of liquid, and then I used the juice from the peppers and used three cans of low sodium beefiness broth and only a half a packet of the seasoning. (didn't want it to exist as well salty) Too threw in a sliced onion plus my own seasonings. This is a winner Casey and I thank you for submitting it, but I'thousand begging you to give it a endeavour with the pork. Cheers once again!

Very good and much like "Chicago Italian Beef," only like other reviewers thought information technology was style too salty. Will definitely make it again but will utilize depression sodium beef broth and much less salad dressing mix. I'm bold the salt content of the salad dressing mix and/or the olives in the pepperoncini might be the culprit. Will bank check labels before I make once more though.
09/21/2002
Everyone liked it and a couple people requested the recipe, only I hold that it's a little likewise salty. Afterwards making it several more times, I've found that using reduced sodium beef broth makes it much meliorate.
10/16/2006
This was really good. Even improve with crusty rolls that have been toasted and brushed with olive oil. Then load on the meat and embrace with mozzarella cheese and broil for a couple of minutes. My husband raved! We also topped ours with roasted red peppers and mild banana peppers. Yum! Warning: this makes a LOT of meat. I used only three.5 pounds, fed five people the first fourth dimension, made leftovers for 3 tonight and have at least 6 more servings in the freezer.
11/20/2003
These were easy to make as I only did mine on top of the stove, however, the table salt content has to exist reduced. My hands and legs were and so swollen subsequently eating. Way likewise salty. Because of this, I won't be making again.
07/20/2002
EXCELLENT! My husbands favorite sandwich is a french dip and he couldn't stop raving when I fabricated these. I didn't add the pepperocini's because I feared the kids reactions and they were still great. I made a butter and garlic spread and toasted it on my scroll before adding the beef and it was delicious. Not exactly depression sodium, only a great care for. I have a feeling my husband will request this one a lot!
03/25/2005
I was skeptical at first when I read people comparing this recipe to Chicago fashion Italian Beef Sandwiches. This recipe is awesome! information technology has a great tangy flavor and sooo easy!! Tips: use low salt broth, and I just put one-half the jar of pepperocini in and that seemed like more than than enough. My husband is picky and he liked it! oh and I'1000 feeding information technology to my family from Chicago this weekend!
11/16/2005
This beef recipe rocks!!! I followed others advice and added 2 packs of dressing mix and beef broth. I buttered onion rolls put a slice of mozz and provalone on pinnacle of the beef threw them in the broiler and perfection. what a tasty easy meal. Thanks casey our family loved them!!!!!!!yum yum
10/26/2010
This was really good, especially if you like spicy hot food. It wasn't clear from the recipe (and ane comment confused the upshot even more than) - practice you drain the pepperocini? I did and I call back that was correct. I as well rinsed them to remove some of the salt. I used leftover beef roast that was pretty tough; and I used beef boullion and a couple cups of h2o instead of canned broth. Cooked on low for 4 hours. Like shooting fish in a barrel to prepare - just throw everything in the crock pot and go to the game or to the movies and you accept a ready snack when you return. I volition practice this again (and again).
01/25/2012
I'yard giving this 4 stars as is. I used 'zesty' salad dressing mix, because we like things a bit spicier, likewise added some thinly sliced onions and a couple of cloves of garlic. Then it was 5 stars! This also works well with a pot roast for 6 hours on high or viii hours on low.
04/27/2010
This is a great recipe. For those of you griping about the salt, only cut information technology downward. You could use low sodium broth if you wanted. I followed the recipe equally is and used juice from peppers. (recipe didn't say to drain) and I thought information technology was FANTASTIC!!. Some people would merely gripe if they were hung with a new rope.
12/20/2010
My family absolutely loved this recipe!!!! Nosotros are from Chicago and Italian Beefiness is serious business for united states! My hubby is very very picky about his beef and this was a major hit! I used a depression sodium cafeteria roast beef and low sodium beef goop. It was perfect. It was in the slow cooker longer than an hour. I think about 1 1/2 hours. I also picked up some hot giardiniera to put on our sandwiches. Information technology was yum yum yum!!! It was much less greasy than ordering it from somewhere. This is going to exist a staple in our house from now on. So easy to make. Information technology took me less time to put in the cooker than it would have to wait for our sandwiches to be ordered and made!
ten/18/2010
Delicious. :]
06/02/2007
We added less of the actual peppers, but well-nigh all of the juice....and about a tablespoon of Worchestershire sauce. Since we were doubling the recipe, I just used 1 tin of beef goop and i can of water. It still tasted awesome, and wasn't overly salty. The husband was highly impressed, so thanks!
10/02/2008
This is exatly! how Italian Beef is fabricated!!!!
01/xiv/2012
I did alter this a little as I found information technology a little bland, added Parsley, bay leaf, basil, garlic and then sliced onions and Jalapenos for the last hour of cooking.
07/22/2011
LOVE IT! Then simple, notwithstanding so dang delicious.
08/08/2011
We bake the sandwiches at 425 degrees on Italian loaf staff of life sprinkled with oregano...delicious.
06/23/2011
Nosotros beloved salt even though we shouldn't have it, but we thought the peppers just made it mode as well salty. Thought well-nigh making it again just without the peppers it's zero new. Cheers anyway!
03/08/2010
This is so elementary and delicious!
04/18/2012
Texture wasn't the same every bit real Italian beefiness, just yet tasted adept.
08/21/2009
first-class!! I love the subtle but definitely there gustation of the pepperoncini!! its become a family favorite and so easy to make that my 14 year old son merely only followed the recipe and put it all in the crock pot when I plant myself running out the door late for work!! he was very excited that "his" dinner was such a hit!
03/11/2013
I followed the recipe exactly and it was a huge hitting. Fifty-fifty my 8yr quondam often picky eater LOVED it.. I did serve it on wheat hoagies with melted provolone on pinnacle and WOW.. I will be making this often. In the future, I'll cut dorsum on the juice in the peppers (perchance utilise half a jar instead) and just add extra broth because, I would have liked a tad fleck less tang. I can't recollect of whatever other improvements because this is a very skillful recipe especially for the endeavour.
12/29/2011
Really excellent for such a uncomplicated dish. My family isn't really in to spicy and then I cut the corporeality of pepperoncini in one-half. I will absolutely make for our next political party.
01/09/2010
This is nearly the recipe I take been using for years. The thing I do differently is instead of 1 pkg of dry Italian dressing mix, I utilise 2. As well I don't employ the beefiness broth, I utilize ii cups water. I don't call up mine is specially salty. When cooked through I shred the meat and serve on a hoagie bun. Delish!
04/17/2011
I really enjoyed the flavor simply my husband didn't. I put a whole caput of garlic in there as well considering I dearest garlic!
03/17/2009
I used a 3-iv lb. beef roast, any kind works, I use whatever is cheapest that week, and use wearisome cooker, 1 hr on hi 7 hrs lo, succulent. Used stock instead of broth, and did not utilise the whole jar of pepperoncini.
02/11/2010
This was and so simple for a quick, delicious dinner. I have fabricated Italian beef before with beef roast and this recipe rivals it. Very flavorful, quite spicy (we don't heed, my husband is cajun) and delicious.
09/27/2001
I alive in chicago and my family loves italian beef!! This recipe was great. I added a bay leaf and took out some of the peppers. I froze leftovers and it reheats fifty-fifty meliorate! My family recommends to add a piece of cheese to your sandwich too for more than ooey-gooeyness!
x/25/2004
I've made this recipe many times and it is wonderful! It seems to plough out differently each time though (I recall it'southward the beef). It actually turned out the all-time when I used a small boring cooker, I was so worried because I was throwing a party and was using my large one for meatballs and my friend brought this tiny crock pot for the Italian beef. I couldn't believe how great it turned out in that puny (sp?) thing. I think having everything kind of cramped together helped the beef to really absorb the flavor of the seasoning and the peppers. (I exercise add a niggling bit of the pepper juice each time likewise.) Thanks and so much for sharing your recipe!
07/22/2002
I have had wonderful Italian beef sandwiches in Chicago and was anxious to try to make them at home. This recipe was a huge disappointment. They were WAY too salty and had very little other flavor. I hate to waste product nutrient, just I had to throw mine out after a mettlesome endeavour to try to eat information technology all. My hubby did eat his. Really awful.
03/13/2010
This is a staple in our tedious cooker! I toast buns with low fat provolone and it'southward amazing! It's always pretty runny but I just utilise a slotted spoon and the flavor is delicious!
05/29/2018
Great! A pound of chuck steak sliced thin, xvi oz. of pepperoncini with 1/2 the juice (I, besides, was unsure), 10.5 oz of 50% ls beefiness broth and .7 Italian dressing seasoning. Cooked in crock pot on depression for 4 hours and was washed. Lightly buttered two hoagie rolls and broiled til lightly toasted, added a minor smear of mayo, the beef mixture, topped with provolone, and then broiled until cheese was melted. Got a thumbs up from BF and will definitely make again!
09/07/2010
Everyone in the family liked it. Hubby said he would only take given it four stars because it didn't take swiss cheese. LOL ;-) I think he was missing the bespeak!
01/10/2011
Pretty good. Very tangy. Very easy to make!
09/07/2009
Hands downwardly my favorite Italian Beef recipe!
02/05/2011
Giving 5 stars for the combination of how little work this takes for a meal that'south really, really tasty and versatile. It can be improved on by adding/changing to your favorite cheese, and serving on toasted rolls brushed with a flake of olive oil. Nice with a glass o white and a tossed salad for a lighter meal or with a lager or a pilsner and a potato-salad for a heavier meal.
01/12/2004
Not bad recipe possibly add together a fiddling more seasoning
01/08/2010
Smelled groovy, merely this was dry and salty. I'm a huge boring cooker fan, just I won't make this again.
12/02/2004
Really good recipe, and VERY like shooting fish in a barrel. I have made it many, many times, and each time might be a little different--depends on what I accept on paw. The ane that is NEVER skipped , of course, is the jar of peppers. Works great with sliced beef OR a whole roast that is shredded later on cooking. Thanks for this recipe!
01/26/2011
Loved information technology! What a simple thought. Slap some cheese on there and put it on a toasted bun and yum. Expert for lunch the next twenty-four hours too.
04/15/2014
I accept to agree with Owen when he says " trust this recipe". After reading all the negative comments, I, as well, was reluctant to put a whole jar/juices of the pepperoncinis in. I thought information technology was going to be also spicy(for my husband who doesn't similar spice), and besides salty. WELL. His review was the only ane I ;istened likewise, and Thank GOD I did! It was amazing!! My hubs absolutely LOVED it and actually told me to save this recipe. (of form I acted like it took all day to cook as well;-) ) I volition exist making once more tonight, and my mouth is watering already thinking about it. Tonight I will be trying information technology with the Zesty salax dressing mix. Hope it turn out but as expert!!
01/19/2004
I idea this was skilful, but the balance of my family did non care for it.
ten/09/2010
This was good, but I think side by side time I will add together a flake more time for cooking the roast beef that mode it falls apart a chip more than.
08/06/2010
This was a pretty skillful and fairly quick meal. I didn't have quite plenty roast beef so I also added some pastrami I had. I used one Tablespoon of the 'Italian Dressing Mix' from this site instead of a bundle mix. I served this on 'Ciabatta Bread' from this site also. It was really skillful! Thanks for sharing!
09/01/2014
Wow! This is a really practiced recipe. You lot can also brand information technology in the slow cooker -- information technology helps it get nice and tender. Thanks!
11/10/2005
This was a adept meal, even had left overs that tasted fifty-fifty better ! cheers :)
07/xvi/2012
This was really great! I used low sodium beef broth and zesty itallian dressing - I as well buttered my staff of life and used garlic powder and oregano on it - my family unit LOVED this - but wish information technology made more - next fourth dimension I will either double or triple it - ane lb of thinly sliced roast beefiness was barely enough for my 4 person family.
10/nineteen/2014
These are so expert! I didn't want to wait for the tedious cooker so I but threw everything in a pot on the stove. I used a beef cube and a cup of water since I didn't have beefiness broth. Just let everything simmer for a bit and information technology was groovy!
10/01/2006
I made this for my family and 2 other families. We take turns cooking for each other. 2 of united states of america fabricated this exactly how the recipe reads. Information technology was too salty. We told the third family and they cut the Italian packet in half. She said that it turned out corking. I was only asked to make this recipe over again. I agreed considering it is the easiest recipe that I take ever done! Last time I served with hoagie rolls. I family unit added lettuce and sliced tomato.
09/fourteen/2014
This will now exist a favorite of ours. My girl and husband do not intendance for peppercinnis, but existence in the slow cooker bankrupt them down enough I could enjoy left over tidbits on my sandwich. The au jus was delicious!! Fabricated slight adjustments, such as using every bit much peppercinnis I felt were enough from a 1 gallon jug I ever have on hand. I used italian dressing since I always have this on paw besides, and I used my bouillon to make a beef goop in a coffee cup for the au jus. Mozzerella cheese and put it in the oven for 10 minutes at 400'
02/04/2015
Pretty good and made an easy meal made as directed.
12/02/2006
I thiought this was pretty proficient, my beau LOVED it. Scores big points for beingness so easy.
xi/08/2001
I added all of the juice from the peppers and I recollect it was too much...it overpowered the sense of taste of the beefiness. Very like shooting fish in a barrel to gear up. I will effort it again.
09/07/2014
Yum! This goes into regular rotation. Simple and delicious.
02/21/2001
I love the Italian Beef sandwiches I have when I travel to the Chicago area. These are much meliorate!!!!!!!!!!! My husband is still raving over them. I added some seeds and juice from the pepperocini. Made it just a piddling more than spicy! Volition be making this over and over! Thanks!!!
12/22/2000
This is awesome...and don't be turned off past the 'kids' rating I gave it, my kids are Non large meat fans :o)
12/27/2012
Very tasty, did not last very long at our table.
10/11/2008
I grew up in Chicago, and this is how a roast beef sandwhich in that location tastes. I missed having them simply now I know how to make my own. Next time I will add an italian sausage this is chosen a philharmonic. Cheers then much for letting me testify my family what a existent Chicago beefiness sandwhich is.
01/08/2003
I actually used these seasonings to slow-cook a roast with. Information technology was peachy - nosotros had it with rice. Actually salty and flavorful.
08/06/2010
This was great. My husband and kids love it. Whenever I make it my son's friends always want to swallow at our business firm!
01/28/2010
YUM. swell season. if you practice not like spicy, i recommend using less pepperonci'south, only nosotros liked it as is.
06/08/2009
This was wonderful for sandwiches. I had italian beef in New Orleans. The Au Jus was neat for dipping. Leftovers made an awesome chilli with addition of Tex-Mex seasonings, particularly cumin and smoked papkria. Volition play with this more.
08/27/2012
Made this simply used chicken breast and low sodium chicken broth. Served with whole wheat argent dollar rolls from local bakery and had huge hit. I'll try the pork suggestion and veggie goop next time.
06/27/2014
used my dwelling made goop and so no salt, washed the peppers off well and it was not salty, information technology was very adept
02/15/2008
I have been making a dissimilar version of this recipe for a while now simply instead of on the stove, I cook in the crock on LOW for 8-10 hours. Also, add a tin of beer! Serve on toasted french bread with provolone cheese.
10/16/2001
Yes, this recipe is very quick and easy simply we idea it was just okay.
04/30/2002
This is great-the beef gets really tender and juicy!
06/xix/2014
It takes sandwich meat and turns information technology into a eatery quality meat ... Made Rueben's with the meat instead of corned beef (less calories this fashion!)
11/05/2008
I tweak this by using a packet of au jus instead of the beef goop and I add two cups of h2o. I also sub roasted red peppers for the pepperoncini. I also add a sliced onion and serve on toased italian hoagies with shredded Kraft Italian cheese and become raves everytime.
02/09/2007
Yummmmmm
01/nineteen/2010
This is SO succulent!! I ever have to double the recipe, b/c my husband could eat 4 sandwiches past himself!! I e'er use the juice from the pepperoncini'due south in the mixture. I serve on French rolls, w/ olive oil & garlic powder. We also put pepper jack cheese on the bread & put in broiler for 5 min before calculation the meat. DELICIOUS!! This has go a regular dish in our house!
12/02/2012
I agree with the other posts that this recipe is very salty. I used half a dressing parcel and reduced sodium broth, and information technology was all the same slightly as well salty for my sense of taste. My cafeteria has reduced sodium roast beef, if I effort to tweak this recipe I'll use that instead. Besides, I purchased higher priced angus roast beef that was rare and tender. Cooking the roast beef made it tougher than when I tasted it correct when I brought it home. Buy the cheapest roast beef for this recipe since information technology won't make the end upshot better.
05/31/2007
And so like shooting fish in a barrel and SOOOO good.
01/03/2008
I made this on the cooktop instead of a slow cooker with sliced Angus roast beef from the cafeteria. It was surprisingly like the Chicago style Italian beef I grew up with. Now if I could just find the right rolls information technology would be perfect! (Oh, it was also very like shooting fish in a barrel.)
02/02/2010
My husband LOVED this! Information technology was so easy and yummy! I melted swiss cheese over information technology with a little lite mayo on the roll. Such a not bad idea for a easy philly cheese steak sandwhich
05/04/2010
Skillful basic recipe, and super easy. If you lot don't happen to have a wearisome-cooker, this tin also be washed on the stove....maybe depression oestrus for a little less fourth dimension. If yous don't accept proper Vienna style rolls, bolillos or French/Italian bread volition work. I exercise think the 6 servings off i pound of beef is more than a little optimistic, though. I'k just sayin'.
01/21/2017
Like shooting fish in a barrel. Delicious. Will be making once again soon. Low sodium broth is the just alter for me and zesty Italian dressing.
05/28/2001
These are awesome! My mom makes them all the time, and everyone wants to know the recipe! Cheers.
11/08/2008
This is incredibly simple and succulent. I did not utilise an entire jar of peppercinis; I threw a scattering in and it was enough spicy for me. I now make this at least one time a calendar week... my boyfriend and I love it!
08/22/2010
I loved this recipes and I cheated and used deli meat sliced thick. I'g a girl on a budget! Added provolone cheese and some crusty toasted bread. Yum Yum!!!!
01/26/2015
I couldn't eat it due to how salty it was.
06/x/2008
What can I say that everyone hasn't said already! I don't like salty nutrient, so I used low sodium broth and half the zesty Italian seasonings. I recollect I volition also drain half the juice from the banana peppers next fourth dimension. Yummy!
03/18/2008
I fabricated this for my family last week and information technology was excellent! I only used the juice from the peppercinis and sliced the peppers for people to use at their leisure. It was and so fantastic! Top with a slice of provolone and that is i tasty french dip. I will make again! Thanks.
11/17/2013
I discovered this recipe a year or so ago, and it has become role of my regular meal rotation. My fellow LOVES it. I'd requite it five stars except that I've discovered a few changes that for me arrive fifty-fifty better. I chop an onion in half and add it to the slow cooker along with nearly half-dozen peeled garlic cloves. I use almost double the broth and about a quarter the amount of pepperoncini, if even that. When it is finished cooking, I strain the liquid and put it in a pot. I boil it to reduce it until there is well-nigh 2 or 3 cups of liquid left. This makes the au jus but outstanding. A secret: I have actually usually made this with pork instead of beef, considering pork tends to be cheap where I alive and I oft buy a large pork loin that I can get 4 or five meals out of. It's equally skillful with either meat. Toasting the buns in the oven and buttering them is a MUST. One last tip: I don't like to allow this cook too long. I find it much tastier when the meat stays together in slices. If information technology cooks long enough to exist shredded it is too soggy.
06/12/2014
Amazing flavor, and and then easy! Put the meat and peppers on French steak rolls and put under the broiler with some provalone. Heavenly!! And my fiancé loved it, too - made it into his top five. I volition admittedly be making this once again!
09/05/2005
Easy and Quicker than a roast. Taste even better too.
05/26/2017
loved information technology!!! used low sodium beef broth as suggested and it was PERFECT!!! Served on whole wheat chiabata rolls with side of fresh watermelon.
09/14/2012
I'm rating this three stars instead of 5 due to a lack of clarification in the directions. I'grand assuming that you lot bleed the pepperocini based on my not doing so the first fourth dimension. However, I'g getting the idea that this volition be a proficient recipe when done correctly. I'll be doing this once again.
03/xiii/2007
This is soooo crawly. Nosotros make this for all kinds of occasions& sometimes we merely have for dinner!
07/22/2018
Awesome
02/21/2008
This was so fast, easy and delicious, information technology is certainly a new favorite in our dwelling!
11/19/2008
Non as expert as I hoped, simply tasted like peppercini when I was done.
11/28/2012
Corking recipe! When I put something new in forepart of my husband, I don't say anything and wait to see if he makes a annotate...he did and said information technology was skilful! And so I'll keep this one in my file. Cheers for sharing!
12/18/2016
Fabricated this with elk, it was much bacteria. I followed other reviewers who said to cut down on the salt. I think I should accept made it as outlined every bit it didn't have enough common salt.
04/24/2016
I used reduced sodium beef broth which was good. The pickled pepperoncini juice makes the goop entirely likewise pickled tasting for a jus to dip it in. I would definitely recommend draining the pepperoncinis and perchance calculation a few jalapeños for a kicking.
xi/05/2012
The only changes I made to this recipe was I used a 12oz jar of peppers and a 16oz can of broth, because those are the sizes I could find. This recipe was delicious! I didn't think it was also salty at all. I will definitely make this once more.
09/04/2012
So and so good . I added roasted red peppers because I love them sooo practiced and easy.Held its shape did not get stringy like roasts sometimes do. I will make this again and again
